Description

Ce parcours permet de découvrir, à pied ou en voiture, le patrimoine fortifié et militaire de Cambrai.A la frontière entre le Saint Empire romain germanique et le royaume de France, la ville est contenue très tôt dans une enceinte. Réédifiée au XIVe siècle, elle st renforcée par la construction d'une citadelle en 1543. Améliorations et perfectionnement sont apportés à l'ensemble des fortifications jusqu'au démantèlement à partir de 1892. Les éléments conservés illustrent l'évolution de l'architecture militaire, du Moyen Age au XIXe siècle.
