About
Trail Walking of 6.3 km to be discovered at Wallonia, Hainaut, Chimay. This trail is proposed by La Forêt du Pays de Chimay.
Description
This family-friendly walk will show you a peaceful natural environment, where the
hedged farmland valleys combine harmoniously with the
rushing waters of the rivers...
Vallée Eau Blanche-Eau Noire (White Water-Black Water Valley): The area you are crossing is dotted with a multitude of springs and streams that
together form our region's two valleys: the Vallées de l'Eau Blanche et de l'Eau Noire (White Water and Black Water Valleys). The names of these two rivers come from the subsoils in which they have respectively
dug their beds. Indeed, limestone gives a whitish aspect to one of them, the White Water; while the darker gleam of the other is due to its shale-rich soil, hence the name of Black Water. These two little rivers join at Nismes (towards Couvin) to form the Viroin, which runs into the Meuse in France. Fans of river fishing should bear in mind that parts of these are private.
