This is the biggest oriental church in Europe as well as a modern ecumenical centre with unique fresco’s and decor. Founded in 1925 in Amay-sur-Meuse, the monastery was transferred to Chevetogne in 1939. Its founder, Dom Lambert Beauduin (who passed away in 1960) was one of the pioneers of the liturgical movement and was very close to Cardinal Mercier and to Pope John XXIII.
The church interior consists of an exonarthex or exterior vestibule (completely closed, whereas in warmer climes, the vestibule is simply an open gallery that runs along the facade), of a narthex or interior vestibule and of a central nave topped by a cupola and a sanctuary.
