The Centre de Physique du Globe (CPG - Geophysical Centre of Dourbes) is a fundamental and applied research centre which is part of the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium. It was designed and inaugurated in 1956 by Professor Edmond LAHAYE, Director of the RMI at that time. The CPG is world-famous and is renowned for its fundamental and applied research in the field of geophysics, covering several scientific disciplines:

Ionospheric activity and its influence on satellite navigation.

The atmospheric electric field.
