The village of Resteigne, situated on the borders of the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg, contains a few ruins, the true witnesses of the life of Baron Edmond of Hoffschmidt, more commonly known as Hermit of Resteigne.
Edmond d'Hoffschmidt, a singular character with a particular character, has been the subject of in-depth research for some years now, making him a better and better known man, thanks to the work of Professor Pierre Jodogne, Doctor of Philosophy and Letters of The Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve and honorary professor at the University of Liège.
The romantic youth of the Baron and his philanthropy have attracted the curiosity and sympathy of the inhabitants of Resteigne who have made it a legendary character.
Since 2002, the association "Les Amis de Resteigne" organizes, each summer, a guided walk intended to (re) discover the life of Edmond d'Hoffschmidt.
