From here you have an exceptional view of the unusual and impressive antennas of Lessive.
They are the antennas of the space telecommunication station that were put into service in 1972 with a single antenna. There are now four.
Equipped with antennas in the shape of parabolas directed toward space, it allows the emission and reception of phone calls, images, and computer data to and from the entire world.
The location of this type of station in Lessive was chosen according to important criteria.
• Situated in a plain at the edge of the woods, Lessive is a calm village, safe from radio disturbances.
• The soil in Lessive offers an ideal rocky foundation capable of supporting the enormous weight of the antennas, but also the precision of their movements.
• Implanted in a valley, Lessive is protected from violent winds.
• Lessive has a microclimate: little snow and less hard frost. This is essential, as the antennas must be preheated and defrosted during cold periods, so they can continue to function properly.
The highest antenna (Lessive 1) measures 35 metres with a 30-metre diameter, while the smallest is 22 metres high for an 18-metre diameter.
The buildings have gone through a succession of owners and uses.
