Our tip: park here and continue on foot on the earthen path (track) on your left, just before the main road. After about half a mile, you’ll discover the re-emergence of the river. Nearby the re-emergence, the archaeological remains of a 2nd century AD Roman camp were uncovered. The Romans used this vantage point as a defensive promontory (oppidum) against the Germanic tribes whose attacks were each time more efficient.
