De 'Zuidzandstraat' is one of the best-known shopping streets in the centre of Bruges. Here (as well as in many other shopping streets mentioned further on along the itinerary) you will find many famous brands and names (clothing, shoes, fashion, outdoor wears and gears, etc.), but also shops selling products more typical for Bruges and the area (such as chocolate, jewellery, laceworks, cushions, etc.). On the right-hand side of the street, shortly after you passed the church ('St. Salvatorskerk'), you can find the elegant (but somewhat hidden!) 'Zilverpand' Shopping Mall, which connects to 'Noordzandstraat' (another shopping street, see further on).
Several cheese refer to the name of Bruges, even if they are not actually produced in the town: 'Brugge Abt', 'Brugge belegen', 'Brugge Blomme', 'Brugge Broodje' (Apero en Classic), 'Brugge Dentelle', 'Brugge Goud', 'Brugge Jong', 'Brugge Oud', 'Brugge Pater', 'Brugge Prestige', 'Brugge Prior', 'Brugge Rodenbach'... They are actually processed in Moorslede from milk from the 'Brugse Ommeland' (Bruges area), but are well put to ripe in Bruges.
