Léon Parent was a member of resistance during the First World War. He would provide supplies to the prisoners and allied soldiers who wandered the woods. He would then guide them to the Dutch border and to freedom (as the Netherlands remained neutral during WWI). He was arrested and then shot in Antwerp in the year 1915. He was only 20 years old.
A plaque commemorates this hero from Vonêche.
