This cross, the cross of Froidfontaine, was the village’s welcome sign. In the days of the crystal factory, carts filled with wood (for the factory) or loaded with crystal (on its way to the cutting works) passed through here every day. The adjacent rocky road is called Route Marie-Thérèse, in honour of the empress Marie-Thrèse of Austria, who had the road built so that she could travel around without passing through the lands of the prince-bishop of Liège, thus avoiding the tolls!
