The very first tourism infrastructure on the site of Coo Waterfalls dates back to 1955. That year, after a long juridical struggle, Gaston Dugardin, a teacher in history and geography in the town of Spa, was eventually allowed to build the cable car leading up to 'Belvédère Thiry' (an observation tower that stands on top of the hill above Coo).
