On your left you will see the village of Wancennes, one of the oldest of the district. Near this small village, whose economic activity mainly revolves around agriculture, many traces of the past have been found.
Two ancient Romand side-roads (diverticulum) pass near Wancennes. They were probably ramifications of the major Roman road linking Trier to Tongeren.
Excavations were carried out in Wancennes in 1882 and 1883 by the archaeological society of Namur. A rather significant Roman villa was implanted in Wancennes. Besides the residence of the master, the Dominus, there were several outbuildings, probably used for the farm. A cemetery from the time of the Roman Empire was also unearthed here.
