The village of Treignes already had a Romanesque church in 1175. It was burnt down in the 15th century before being rebuilt in the 16th, then once more sacked and destroyed in the 18th. In 1870, the construction of the current Neo-Gothic church started, on the site of the old building and part of the old cemetery. The works would take just over two years.
