The Roche Madoux (Madoux Rock) is an old limestone quarry dating from the turn of the century, which has been partly recolonised by thickets of hawthorn and sloe trees. Down from the quarry, we find short grass on the rocks and scree, and calcicole grassland. Many protected plant and animal species (butterflies, reptiles, etc.) appreciate these sunny areas. A large part of the site is currently shared between an approved nature reserve (RNOB) and a national nature reserve.
