The inauguration of the Oignies-Olloy section took place in March 1909 and it was brought into regular service in 1911. For forty-five years, the little tram was to transport not only workers, but also wood and merchandise, and enable housewives to travel to the local markets. While the municipality really hoped that it would be a "source of wealth", it would once more be disappointed. Nonetheless, the "Vicinal" also brought the first tourists. The war of 1914 slowed down the growth of industrial activity, in Oignies and Olloy alike. The idea of extending the line to Couvin was abandoned in the 19th century. The last journey took place in 1956.
Today, this section has been converted to Ravel (réseau autonome des voies lentes - autonomous network of slow ways) and is reserved for pedestrians, horse-riders and cyclists.
