Arthur Masson was a writer born in 1896 in Rièzes, a small village in the municipality of Chimay. His two parents came from the village of Mazée, where they lived in this house.
Arthur Masson is known as a regionalist author, but would be better described as an "author of the land" to convey a sense of his integration into rural life. His literature is accessible to young and old alike. His hero, Toine Culot, is mayor of Trignolles, the name of the village invented by the writer, a contraction of the village of Treignes and the hamlet of Matignolles.
