During the hike, you cross Le Surginet, which is where Englebert COLINET, encouraged by the Prince of Chimay, created a large luxury glass works in 1506.
During his visit in 1549 with his son Philip, Charles Quint took the opportunity to visit the Surginet glass kiln. To mark the occasion, the glassworkers made two exceptional pieces
for the royal visitors: the Emperor Charles was given a white glass ship measuring 1.25 metres in length, filled with animals. The future Philip II received
a vase adorned with cords inlaid with lion masks and glass lace, resting on a blown glass stand, worked to perfection. The walk continues through the Bois de Beauwelz wood, a classic oak and hornbeam grove; along
the way, large ponds attract the Alpine newt to lay its eggs. You can prolong the walk towards circuit no. 10
