This 1914-1918 war memorial was one of the last creations of the region's limestone craftsmen. It was erected in 1922 on what was then the Grand-Place. It stood opposite the old town hall, a large Neo-Romanesque stone building dating from 1880, which was demolished by an explosion in 1940.
