The Château Doyen (Doyen Castle) was built in the late 19th century on the site of a bloomery recorded as far back as the 16th century. At the time, the Forgemaster was Jacques Bernard. In the besogné (census) of 1608 written for Charles de Croÿ, Laurent Pochet led this furnace. In the 18th century, the furnace was converted into a marble-sawing and polishing workshop. The water from the Ry de Fromont, stored in the lake, was used to power a paddle wheel.
