The Canul quarry, 100 metres below the viewpoint, owes its name to a homeless man who lived there. One night, a rock slipped and crushed him. His name has remained associated with the quarry and also inspired a rallying cry at the Spa carnival: ‘n'as nin veyou Canule’. This cry, used by the people of Spa during the carnival, recalls this tragic event.
