Spa has a long history with the English. They were among the first to appreciate the mineral waters of Spa. We attribute the popularisation of the term Spa to two English researchers, William Paddy and Richard Andrews, who, after studying the virtues of ferruginous waters, propagated their use in England. They gave the name of Spa to the English springs, and thus was born the authentic'city: Spa. The English colony became very important in Spa. An Anglican church was built in 1876. The park was redeveloped long after the temple disappeared. A stele by André Posel commemorates the existence of this remarkable building. The park is located on Boulevard des Anglais, at the entrance to the town.
