This impressive dam was inaugurated at the end of the 19th century and was created at the request of the lainers of the Verviers basin. The dam is fed by the Gileppe and the Louba rivers. It constitutes a drinking water reserve of 26 million m³ for the region.
The site has two emblematic buildings.
The 13.5 metres high Lion standing on the dam is looking east and is the creation of the sculptor Félix-Antoine Bouré.
The panoramic tower is almost 78 metres high and is entirely made of glass at the top. It offers an unforgettable view of the site and the surrounding region. At this level you get to enjoy a cosy brasserie-restaurant. Finally, a permanent exhibition recounts the history of the dam at the foot of the tower
