The square was once called the market square, and is surprisingly large and steep.
The architectural ensemble surrounding this vast space covered with Amblève pebbles is listed. Most of the houses date back from the 18th and 19th centuries. In the centre, the fountain supports the town's "perron" resting on four seated wolves and symbolising the freedoms acquired by the people.
