It was in 1758 that the Parc de Sept Heures was laid out as a public promenade. There are many monuments: the Armistice monument, donated by Major C.E. Radcliffe, who was made a burgher of Spa in 1925; the monument to the composer Meyerbeer, who came to Spa from 1829 to 1860 to seek inspiration; the monument to Jean d'Ardenne, a fine writer born in Spa and an unrivalled propagandist of this country. There is also the Gridelet monument, the stone of the Association des Coloniaux, the stele of the 1st Lancier, the monument to the founders of the Promenades, and finally, at the exit of the park, the monument to Marshal Foch. It is known that the Generalissimo came to Spa after the First World War and that he held talks with the German plenipotentiary Erzberger.
