The Pont De Sorbait (Sorbait Bridge) over the Ry de Fromont is named after the most famous son of Montbliart; Paul De Sorbait. Born on 24 January 1624 to a modest family, this famous
figure had an eventful life. As a teenager, Paul De Sorbait enjoyed playing music. With his violin under his arm, he left for the Collège des Oratoriens
in Thuin. In around 1641, charmed by a travelling healer, he left town in the company of this "artist". He was found in Vienna two years later. At the age of 19, he joined the
army as a soldier and healer. His reputation as a healer became such that one day, he was summoned by the Empress of Austria, who was ill. He managed to cure her, which made his name. In 1652, he became a doctor, and later a professor of medicine.
Finally, he was made rector of the University of Vienna. Covered with honours, Paul De Sorbait passed away on 21 April 1691, aged 67.
