Old people tell an amusing anecdote about one of the inhabitants of the Ferme de la Haute Grange (High Barn Farm), Mr Fontenelle. Walking past Scourmont Abbey one morning, he found an
abandoned baby at the entrance to the Abbey. He took pity on this new-born full of life, and decided to adopt him. He went to tell the monks of his intention straight away. Of course, the child had to be baptised, which was done. However, at the ceremony, the curate at the time needed to know the
child's name. "I don't know," said Mr Fontenelle, "I don't know his name.
I found him in the street." So a name was invented to suit the circumstances:
the child would be called "Larue"! That's how the Larue generation was born!
