How are the duration and difficulty calculated?
Estimates of the duration / time to complete the trails are calculated on the basis of:
- the number of kilometres-effort of the trail
You can find more information (in French) on the concept of kilometre-effort here: What is a kilometre-effort? - average speed per activity type
Difficulty estimates are also based on the number of kilometres-effort of the trail and the type of activity.
These estimates are available for the following activities:
- walking
- cycling
- mountain biking
- horse riding
⚠️
The proposed duration and difficulty calculations are estimates, which must be adjusted to each user and their speed of progress on the ground.
In the trail description sheets on our website and on the mobile app. the indicated travel time may be:
- either the estimated time calculated as explained above
- or the actual time recorded by the user for the trail
- or a time communicated or modified by the user
The difficulty indicated can also be:
- either the estimated difficulty
- or the difficulty communicated or changed by the user
Therefore caution must be exercised regarding this information about duration and
